Returns to independence after four years

Tournament hosting platform Start.gg has announced they have regained its independence, as it is no longer part of Microsoft. The site was aqueired by MS back in 2020, in the since renaming from Smash.gg to its current Start.gg and no other significant changes under Microsoft's leadership.

Alongside this, Start.gg has also announced they will be introducing, for the first time, a transaction fee upon paid tournament registrations. The fee is set to be 6% of the subtotal from registrations, meaning that it does not come off Tournament Organizer-related fees. It also does not affect cash transactions made at venues or free-to-register tournaments. Further details are available in their blog post.
