Sony and the Esports World Cup Foundation Enter Multi-Year Partnership
Owners of EVO are now working with Esports World Cup.

While the gaming industry grows, esports have no choice but to follow suit and continuously expand in scale as more and more people want to pursue the career of competing in their favorite titles. Yet, when it comes to investment from larger publishers, gaming companies, and other media titans, few had as active of a role in the scene's growth as Sony, who not so long ago have become the co-owners of Evo. You've likely seen their INZONE brand hardware appear as a sponsor in the esports space quite often as well.

Now this great initiative is further expanded with the latest news and Sony announcing that they will engage in a multi-year partnership with Esports World Cup. While few out there don't know about Sony, Esports World Cup Foundation warrants an introduction.

Created just last year, Esports World Cup Foundation is a non-profit organization from Saudi Arabia. Their singular goal is promoting the esports competition through fostering the titular Esports World Cup tournament, an evolution from a fairly well known Gamers8. The CEO of ESL, Ralf Reichert, is also behind the wheel of EWCF, which should provide you with all the necessary credentials to see how serious this is.

As for the specifics of this arrangement, Sony will provide their expertise in multiple fields to advance EWC to the status of a true worldwide event. Sony Pictures Entertainment is set to be in charge of creating a series of behind-the-scenes documentaries that would provide in-depth coverage of what this event is all about, from the games, to the people that play them. The talents of the Sony Music Entertainment will also be leveraged to create an anthem that would befit the Esports World Cup 2024, which will take place this Summer.

Their list of titles continue to expand, now including a total of seven titles: PUBG, PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, Free Fire, Fortnite, Rainbow 6 Siege, Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Overwatch 2. As you can see, no fighting games yet, but given the history of Gamers8, that could change at any point.
