SonixFox Withdraws From Event After Finding AI Slop Posters
"Use the money you offered me in contract to hire artists, and maybe next year I’ll reconsider."

Having a major player attend your event is not a terrible way to promote it. After, part of the appeal of going to offline tournaments is that you get to meet new people and potentially run sets with legends that might have inspired you to compete in the first place.

SonicFox is certainly a great example of this, a trailblazer with talent and passion for almost everything in the genre and someone who is using the fame to try and do some good in the world.

A good way to discourage something like that from supporting your tournament is to use their likeness without asking while utilizing technology that has been actively damaging to environment, economy, creatives, and marginalized groups.

Which is what happened with Nexcon.

Shortly after, SonicFox terminated their contract with Ninjutsu Entertainment.

The founder of Ninjutsu Entertainment, Ty Bailey, posted quite a lengthy apology to X shortly after. While the video is peppered with excuses, Ty seems to own up to the fact that it was not a wise decision to make.

However, actions speak louder than words when it comes to apologies. Perhaps they will learn from this going forward and comission artists to make promo materials, or throw something together on their own.

SonicFox already suggested as much in response to the apology, and perhaps will attend the event in the future. The ball is in the court of Ninjutsu Entertainment now. Owning up to mistakes is the first step, and they might get some appreciation from community going forward by showing their capacity for growth and learning.
