SonicFox Could Be Suing Nobi Gaming
The floodgates are open.

Just a few months ago, it feels like everyone was excited about a completely unexpected exhibition match between Waka Flocka and SonicFox. Even though the result was obvious from the start, it was still an entertaining event that drew a lot of eyes from both the FGC and outside of it.

Unfortunately, months later, we are now seeing some concerning consequences that spawned from it.

It all started with a fairly vague tweet from Sonic, asking Fashun, the co-owner and founder of Nobi Gaming, to check his Discord, only to get a similarly vague "go live" reply in return.

As it turns out, this interaction stems from SonicFox not being paid the entire sum that was promised to them in their contract with Nobi Gaming. Late or missing payments are nothing new, as far as common FGC issues go, but this problem goes much further than that.

Fashun didn't take the accusation lightly, and responded with a vague promise of delivering the receipts, accusing Sonic of toxicity, underlining that what they got paid is more than what people usually get paid in FGC, and generally creating a negative image of SonicFox.

This is where things get even more complicated, or rather, where they cross into the question of what's legal and what isn't. Fashun alleges that Sonic was not paid in full because they breached the contract. What was the breach in question? Apparently it's Sonic not promoting the event on social media, even though Sonic said that they did just that.

Prior to this, the implication was that the change of venue was also a key factor in this, with Sonic insisting that they were not informed that it would void the contract. Their back and forth seemingly reached a dead end. A more amicable solution might not be out of the question, but with SonicFox taking this matter seriously and looking for a lawyer, it might just be taken to court.
