As expected, Chun-Li is as technical as ever.
Chun-Li is coming to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and while her release date is still set as the nebulous "Winter 2025" SNK has just released a short character guide to get you started.
If you've played her in Street Fighter games, you should be instantly familiar with much of her kit. She's still a technical character with a wide array of normals (and command normals) air combo potential, and EX into super cancels.
With that said, let's still go over her specials:
- Kikoken - Chun-Li's charge projectile. The light version is slow but will cover the most distance, while heavy is really fast yet very stubby. The REV provides extra utility by allowing you to advance behind it an initiate offense.
- Hundred Lightning Kicks - A fast series of kicks. Much like with the fireball, it has several uses. The light version is relatively safe and can be cancelled into without expecting a punish, while the heavy version will lead into a follow-up and should be used when you know it will hit. The REV version is similar to heavy, but much better, and has two brake points (the option to cancel the ability early) to stay safe if it didn't hit, or potentially perform different follow-ups.
- Aerial Hundred Lightning Kicks - You might not believe this, but this is like Hundred Lightning Kicks, but in the air. These are a bit more limited in use. You can throw one out to hit on your jump-in, and as part of aerial combos. Doing the REV version mid-air combo will also allow for follow-ups once you land.
- Spinning Bird Kicks - a charge attack that has Chun-Li spinning in place. This one is far more straightforward, as the light version chains from light attacks, and the heavy does more damage but starts slower. The REV version ends with a kick that you can REV Cancel into Aerial Hundred Lightning Kicks for a combo extension.
- Hazanshu - The classic leaping kick. This move travels some distance and will beat out throws, low profile attacks, and projectiles. As always, REV version provides a combo extension utility by bouncing opponents into the air.
- Tensho Kicks - Your classic invincible DP. Can either serve as an anti-air or a reversal. Thanks to CotW mechanics, you can also brake the heavy and REV version to access different combo routes.
- Kikosho - Powerful short range attack. The invincibility and large hitbox make it overlap with a DP to some extent, as it can serve as a combo finisher, anti-air, or a reversal.
For supers, Chun-Li gets the classic Hoyokusen, which can lead into air follow-ups and counter projectiles with the Redline version. Her Hidden Gear is an entirely new Seven Star Shining Kicks. It doesn't allow for extra combos like her other super, but deals more damage and also has decent reach.
