And it's just the beginning, marked as Season 1
At the started of the year, Sega vs Capcom: The Next Level put out a teaser saying that full trailer will be coming later in January, and while slightly late, it's finally here.
For the most part, it focuses on Sonic and providing an update on what the game currently looks, sounds, and plays like. With a surprise appearance of Infinite as the guest announcer and a new character reveal.
If you're not familiar, Sega vs Capcom: The Next Level is a fan-made 2v2 tag fighting game in the same vein as Marvel vs Capcom.
It utilized the very flexible Ikemen GO engine, you can think of it as essentially open source version of MUGEN that is actually constantly getting updated and maintained by the community.
Among the Ikemen GO projects, Sega vs Capcom is easily among the most promising projects when it comes to the sheer effort and quality that goes into it. From new character models, original voice acting, and its own soundtrack.
The idea of Sega vs Capcom was a longtime dream game among the FGC, at least back when these collaboration games were actually common and expected, and it seems like MadXRuler, the head developer on this project, is dead set on delivering to the best of their ability.
It even already saw some competition as one of the mystery tournaments at Combo Breaker, which you can check out in the video below.
And while full release is slated for July of 2026, you can already get your hands on the beta release from the December of last year.
