Saudi Arabia Announces Esports World Cup
Saudi Arabia continues in its quest to be the esports destination of the world

Saudi Arabia have embarked on a very ambitious plan to diversify their income and this has led to significant investments in various areas of their life and economy. One of the areas that has benefited from this is esports. 

One of the recent moves made in this regard was the Gamers8 Invitational tournament that featured various games including Street Fighter 6 which had a $1,000,000 prize pool and Kakeru won $400,000 for taking first place.

Now, the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, announced that there will now be something known as the Esports World Cup starting in 2024 in Riyadh. The festival will feature the biggest games and the biggest prize pools. This is all part of the National Gaming and Esports Strategy, a plan which is to see Saiudi Arabia’s esports industry grow which was announced in September 2022.

The Esports World Cup is set to help bolster tourism in the country during the summer months which is normally a less busy period in the country. 

According to a statement, the Crown Prince noted, "The Esports World Cup is the natural next step in Saudi Arabia's journey to become the premier global hub for gaming and esports, offering an unmatched esports experience that pushes the boundaries of the industry,"
