Vanessa mains, pay attention.
After an incredibly long abscence, Rick Strowd is back in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
Many newer players likely don't recognise him, but in one way or another, much of Rick's DNA made it into every other boxing characters that SNK has made since his debut.
Most notably, Vanessa inherited a massive portion of his moveset, so if you used to main her or simply like the character, this one might be for you.
While Rick has many different elements of boxing in his kit, if we had to categorize him in terms of boxing archetypes, he'd be an inboxer.
Without any projectiles or crazy long range moves, he's all about getting into someone's face, where he gets so many different options to pressure his opponents. Backswing to bait out a hit into an immediate counter offense. Set up frame traps with plus moves. Constantly threaten the enemy with a quick low, throw or overhead. Brake some of his moves early to confuse and mix them up.
There's a bit of a challenge to getting in, but in some cases you might circumvent that with his dash special and a weave stance that allows you to dodge projectiles.
For anyone who likes the real boxer archetype in fighting games, you might enjoy this character.
