PHP Vulnerability Forces Japanese Publishers to Go Offline
You probably don't have to worry about it.

If you haven't heard, internet is a bit of a mess right now. Recently a massive vulnerability was discovered within PHP programming language, which was used to enable a whole lot of (generally old) websites.

Unless you're into some more niche stuff, you likely only ran into this when a bunch of wiki sites had to go dark until things are fixes.

However, when it comes to Japan, a massive portion of their websites was still powered by PHP, so now many of them are scrambling to update things, with even prime minister tweeting out a warning.

Arc System Works and Cygames have been among the first to pull down their websites, though it obviously goes much further beyond this.

There was also some speculation that this is related to the Capcom ID data breach, but that's a whole other issue.

All we can do now is wait for these companies to finish the maintenance related to their services, but the sad aftermath of this is that many older websites will not have this luxury, so this PHP issue will effectively wipe out a massive portion of the internet.
