The game is not for him anymore
Phi Lam, otherwise known as PhiDX has announced that he will be taking a break from competitive Tekken 8.
He made this known in a video he released on his YouTube channel, where he explained that the season 2 patch, with all its issues, has made the game unmotivating to him to play. He added that the straw that broke the camel's back was actually from a game he won.
He went on to explain further his logic and how the game's new features and certain areas in which it has been oversimplified have put him off. He encouraged those who enjoy the game to continue playing.
PhiDX is not the only player that has taken a break from the game following a disastrous season 2 patch which caused a lot of issues and will even be receiving an emergency patch.
The issues facing Tekken 8 have reignited the debate on whether fighting games are being oversimplified to cater more to a casual audience. More and more games are doing this with Street Fighter 6's modern controls, and games like Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising also feature simplified moves. Tekken has traditionally been one of the most difficult fighting games to master, but even they are making the gameplay more casual-friendly.
