Recently, news broke out about the entirety, or at least the majority, of NetherRealm's mobile division getting laid off. The company is yet to actually acknowledge this, but we're already seeing the results in action, as their recent mobile offering, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, is getting shut down very soon.

Naturally, this raises some questions about their other title, Mortal Kombat Mobile. Fortunately for the fans, NRS was swift in reassuring the users that the game is doing fine and will continue to enjoy further support and updates.

This still leaves an unanswered question of what exactly happened at the NRS mobile division, and if they did indeed get essentially shut down, then who is handling the future development of the MK Mobile?

Perhaps more will be revealed down the line, but for now, we can only offer sympathy for the many employees who were affected by this, and wait to see what happens next.
