All support for unofficial accessories ends in November

Tech website Windows Central and other outlets report that this coming month, any Xbox owners who are using unofficial accessories on their consoles will be met with Error 0x82d60002, meaning that their accessories will be blocked. This policy goes into effect on November 12, 2023, leaving the players less than two weeks to find alternatives for their devices of choice.

Windows Central also reports that their sources confirmed the reports, adding that Microsoft aims to expand the approved third-party controller program.

This upcoming change can directly harm those FGC members whose platform of choice is Xbox. Many arcade sticks and fight commanders already require adapters, and it’s hard to speculate how many of those will end up being approved. Many members of the FGC are already asking Microsoft to reconsider.

*note that the arcade stick pictured above is from 8BitDo, which is an approved third-party manufacturer.
