The organizers of East Coast Throwdown have announced that there will be no ECT in 2025 due to multiple challenges, including scheduling conflicts with other events, key team members pursuing new career opportunities, and economic uncertainties.

In their announcement, they hope for a return in 2026, though they encouraged the community to support other East Coast tournament organizers in the meantime.

ECT had been a consistent yearly feature of fighting game competition, which was able to take place outside of the 2020 pandemic. A bittersweet announcement, as many of the people involved with its success were able to move on to other larger projects, though it remains to be seen if ECT will return in full force come 2026.
