Nintendo Switch Successor To Be Backwards Compatible
Nintendo will be friendly to older generations

The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 and was the successor to the Wii U which wasn't as popular a console from Nintendo. With 7 years having elapsed, Nintendo look on the verge of releasing a new console for fans.

While there aren't any huge details on what the Nintendo Switch successor will be, it is believed that there will be some huge update before the end of the fiscal year which will end early 2025.

The president of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, has released a statement that will be exciting to fans as he stated that the new console coming from Nintendo will be compatible with Nintendo Switch software.

He said, "At today's Corporate Management Policy Briefing, we announced that Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Online will be available on the successor to Nintendo Switch as well. Further information about the successor to Nintendo Switch, including its compatibility with Nintendo Switch, will be announced at a later date."

This is an interesting development and while many are convinced that the new console will simply be called a Switch 2, there is no confirmation about that at the moment.

This also means that fans will be able to take some of the classic games from the Switch like Breath Of The Wild, and Smash Bros. Ultimate, to the new console.

It could also potentially be good news as there is hope for games like Street Fighter 6 or Tekken to find their way to Switch. Mortal Kombat 1 is already available, although it doesn't have a great reputation, there might be hopes of a workaround to make the game run better.

One could hope.
