Nintendo Reveal They'll Announce Next Console This Year

In 2015, Nintendo released the Nintendo Switch, a console which could be played as a handheld and could also be enjoyed on a TV. This was a novelty as usually a console was either handheld or the normal TV setup or PC. 

Nintendo have now announced that they will be releasing details on their new console sometime this year. 

They released a statement on social media here they affirmed that when Nintendo Direct takes place in June, fans can expect some really interesting and exciting news.

According to the statement by Shuntaro Furukawa, the President of Nintendo, "We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year.

"It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation."

Nintendo have been a juggernaut in the gaming space for decades and are always at the forefront of innovative systems like its Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and the Wii. There have been some less than successful ones like the Gamecube and the WiiU, but the Japanese company have largely found success with their releases.

This could also mean a slew of new games, most notably, Super Smash Bros. One of the most successful Nintendo games out there and a top fighting game.

With the news, fans now have so much to look forward to in the summer.
