New Indie Game "Generic Fighter Maybe" is Currently Open to Playtest
Go ahead and give it a try.

The unbelievably fruitful season of fighting game announcements continues with a rather comedic indie game called Generic Fighter Maybe.

The developers have an incredible list of features on the Steam page that you will likely appreciate:

  • Fully featured fighting game mechanics, combos, specials, blocking, throws, supers, you name it!

  • Multiple playable fighters with their own unique moves!

  • Classic-style motion inputs for special moves.➡️⬇️↘️✊

  • Extend your combos to unhealthy lengths with the powerful, multi-directional Dash button.

  • Attempt to escape long combos by spending meter, or spend even more to push your attacker away.

  • Keyboard and Gamepad support with full button mapping.

  • Training Mode with visible hitboxes.

  • Ugly low-effort artwork that was well-animated for some reason.

  • Some really cool battle music.

  • Cheer-up the sun by doing combos (doesn't impact gameplay but they'll be really excited)

On the surface it's still a more or less classic 2D fighter, perhaps leaning in the direction of anime fighters like Blazblue and Guilty Gear, however the tone and style really elevate it to something more unique, and dedicating a whole button to multi-directional dash should make it more fun for people who are really into combo theory.

There is still some time left in the playtest, so don't miss your chance.
