New Indie Fighting Game Is Bringing Back Classic Kung-Fu Movie Action
Shang Wu Zhi, or Martial Arts History is heavily inspired by the classics of Chinese cinema.

Not long ago a new indie fighting game got announced on X, only recently started catching attention of the global FGC.

The game is called 尚武誌 or Shang Wu Zhi, which translates to Martial Art's History. This is a one-man project, which already looks quite impressive for its scale.

More importantly it captures a theme and aesthetic that is near and dear to a lot of fighting game fans. So far, every character that has been shown off has some resemblance (from overt to more subtle) to iconic characters in martial arts movies, like the Landlady from Kung Fu Hustle or Chen Zhen from Fist of Legend

The developer is already working on an English translation, applied for a Steam page, and will be featured at some offline tournaments where people get try it early. Next such opportunity will be Brussels Challenge, but you might also catch it at the Evo Indie Game Gallery later this year.

If this seems like it's something down your alley, keep an eye on Shang Wu Zhi.
