New Details About Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina
Not the safe sequel everyone expected.

Another entry of Type Moon Times recently occured during the annual FGO Fest. This time it was focused entirely around Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina and revealed a whole lot of information about the game.

For starters, we know that Mash Kyrielight and Arcueid Brunestud will be returning to the roster, which now sits at 4 characters (though undoubtedly most if not all Lumina characters will return).

The narrative is also getting a major upgrade in the form of a VN-style "Grand Scenario Mode," which Raito (the game's composer) seems quite excited about.

Other than that, the gameplay reveal has let to some major concerns. So far, most of the new things we can find in Twi-Lumina resemble features popularized by Street Fighter 6 and other modern fighting games.

You got simple controls selection, drive impact style mechanic, and a new meter that replaces moon skill gauge, which functions in a way similar to drive meter.

There is still a lack of overall info about the game's direction and new mechanics, but many players have been concerned about this direction. Partially because SF6 does not get much love for its core system mechanics (to put it lightly), but also because this direction communicates a lack of confidence in following your own course.

There's hope that the final release alleviates some of the worries. None of these mechanics are inherently bad, it's all about the implementation, and going by the much hated Type Lumina shield, French Bread is willing to adjust things if they are harmful to the game.
