New 2XKO Weekend Warmup Shows Early Prototype Footage and Playtests
New footage of the game shows a point in the time when it was still finding its tag game footing.

In spite of everything, 2XKO is still here and it's time for another Weekend Warmup. This time it's focused on giving us a little look behind the scenes, specifically the early stages of 2XKO finding its footing as a tag fighter with potential for duo play.

If you check out the post below, you can find footage of the very first duo playtest, and it's pretty rough due to connection issues between devs who were working from home at that point, but it still allowed them to get a feel for duo play and decide that it's something really worth pursuing.

Interestingly, you can see that Katarina was playable in this build, and seemed relatively fleshed out in terms of attacks and animations. Though keep in mind that making video games is a fairly convoluted process, so there are likely 10 different reasons why she ended up scrapped.

You can also tell that the game still had a relatively different art style at this point, something a bit less stylized and closer to what we saw in the very first reveal.

This prototype would eventually get cleaned up and tuned into something closer to what we see today, and Riot started bringing in some playtesters from the community to try and push the game to the limit and find more niche flaws. That they did, especially when it came to various infinites.

It's these playtesters that would become 2XKO's Game Analysis Team, and as the rest of the article shows, it was very necessary for the game's extremely intensive and scrupulous playtesting process that eventually resulted in a game that is, all things considered, pretty polished in spite of its circumstances.
