Do you like announcements? Well, how about announcement of an announcement? The biggest fighting game tournament in the world will be hosting an announcement show on 14th of January, revealing new details about the upcoming Evo 2025.
For the most part, there is one thing that people want to know more than anything else, what will the line-up look like? Quite obviously Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, and Guilty Gear: Strive are firmly locked into their positions, but what about the rest?
King of Fighters XV has been one of the more entertaining tournaments at Evo, but perhaps this time it will be replaced by the much anticipated Fatal Fury sequel. Mortal Kombat's chances also don't look awfully good. The game's playerbase and competitive scene have been shrinking since release. At this point, rolling back to MK11 almost makes more sense than hosting an MK1 competition.
And of course, there's a whole pack of more niche fighting games that still have a strong and devoted playerbase. Odds of Granblue being featured seem strong, but hopefully French Bread fans also get fair representation.
Alas, we'll have to make it to next Tuesday to find out how it all plays out.
