The Emirati organisation expands beyond Tekken with the addition of one of Europe's most consistent competitors
Shakil Ghazi, better known by his gamertag Shakz, has been unveiled as the latest player for Mirage Esports, an Emirati organisation that has started to involve itself more significantly in the FGC.
Mirage has primarily stayed in the Tekken scene, signing players from that game, including Joey Fury and Gosain. In Shakz, they are making their first foray into the Street Fighter scene.
Shakz Is a Strong Pick For Mirage For Street Fighter 6
Shakz has long been a strong competitor in the European scene and was the winner of VSFighting XIII in 2025. He also competed with Wolves Esports for Street Fighter League EU, winning 4 of his 6 matches with his strong Cammy and proving instrumental in helping the team reach the playoffs. They were eventually eliminated by Mouz.
This will be Shakz's first team since he left The Last Resort in 2021. He will now be aiming to make it into the Esports World Cup and Capcom Cup, two tournaments he has yet to feature in.
Shakz expressed his delight in a post on his official X page.
"I'm happy to announce that I've joined the MirageOrgAE family!" he wrote.
"Grateful for the opportunity and ready to give it my all this season for EWC and CPT."
With the strength of Mirage behind him, there is a lot for Shakz to achieve. With the World Warrior series in the Capcom Pro Tour about to kick off, strong performances in his region and a deep run at one of the upcoming tier one tournaments could very much be on the cards, marking what could be his strongest year to date.
