When Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising came out in 2023, it featured a rather innovative Grand Bruise mode, innovative for fighting games at least. For once, instead of just fighting, you had an option to enjoy a casual mode while playing as your lobby avatar.
The mode itself was rather similar to Fall Guys, a casual multiplayer game that came out two years prior and achieved a surprising amount of success. Each level was its own little mini-game, with players getting filtered out one by one until only the winner remains.
Unfortunately, even on release it was rather difficult to find matches, and it has only gotten harder with time, in spite of updates adding new mini-games.
Despite this seemingly failed attempt to provide people with a laid back party mode, it seems like ArcSys is not giving up on the idea, as Marvel Tokon seems to include the latest iteration on the idea.
