Many feel it will be the Champion
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has teased the possibility of a new character being revealed ahead of the game's launch on August 6.
The 4v4 tag fighter has already hosted three betas since its announcement last year, and the developers have revealed all 20 launch characters.
The tease came in a post on X, where the developers showcased the full launch roster before adding an extra character card featuring a question mark, suggesting that a mystery character could still be on the way.
"Launch is almost here, but we're not done yet. We've still got a few surprises in store!"
Fans have already begun speculating about who the mystery character could be. Since only one additional character was teased, many believe it could be The Champion.
The Champion is expected to be the game's primary antagonist, and introducing the character without assigning them to a specific team would make narrative sense.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has already been praised for its bold and unconventional roster choices. Characters such as Black Panther (Shuri), Loki, Danger, and Blade have helped the game stand out among Marvel fighting games.
The game also came under criticism when it was announced that it would be unavailable in more than 100 countries. The most common theory among fans was that the restriction was related to the absence of PlayStation Network support in those regions.
That decision was later reversed in some regions, but many affected countries remain unable to access the game.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launches on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on August 6.
