After a bit of a break, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls are back to uploading more character guides for the remaining members of the roster. In this case, we're gonna be taking a look at Hulk.
Inarguably one of the most well known superheroes in the world, and probably one of the simplest. A meek scientist who turns into a powerful (but kind) brute when angered. It's a basic premise, but one that allowed for thousands of different comic book issues and dozens of different takes on the character.
Naturally, a big green guy who hits hard has also been a perfect choice for many video games, so Hulk is a lot more prominent in the medium than many other superheroes. Capcom in particular seems to love the character, so he appeared in quite a few fighting games, often representing a rather predictable "big body" archetype.
Outside of the surprising abscence of command grabs, Marvel Tokon is no exception. This version of Hulk is a massive brawler that compensates for lack of mobility with intimidating presence, threatening to completely ignore your attacks and smash you with unblockables.
Instead of a movement focused unique skill, he's all about the Gamma gauge that gets charged up by doing a Gamma Spark armored move (essentially an armored taunt that also serves as an attack), or by eating up attacks with his other armored moves.
Once you fill up the gauge, you can do Gamma Spark again to enter Gamma Rage. This essentially powers up all of Hulk's special moves, in many cases providing him with so much armor that you'll have a very hard time contesting his offense unless your character has some scary throws.
Other than that, he has a fairly straightforward set of specials. A clap that negates projectiles, stomp that hits grounded opponents anywhere on the screen, an armored charge, and a short-range multi-hit special. In many cases what adds a bit of flavor here is that almost every special has a potential follow-up attack, so there's some potential to catch your opponents off guard or perhaps open up new combo routes.
