Major Tournament Hosting Platform Start.gg Unveils New Write API
Perhaps the FGC's largest tournament hosting provider Start.gg Has unveiled the details on their much awaited new API structure

Start.gg, which was formally known as Smash.gg, has unveiled today their new Write API. The site is well known in the fighting games community, as virtually every major event, including Evo, CEO, Frosty Fausting, and literally hundreds more major events, all use the tournament hosting platform to promote their events, deal with registration, fees, and most importantly, handle the evolution of the brackets.

It is not just fighting games however, there are dozens of genres of competitive gaming that utilize the site's functionality. Yet, for a very long time, Start.gg API has been the source of many complaints among TOs and those who both rely on its structure and want to integrate it into their own custom solutions. Thankfully today, those complaints have been made just a tiny bit quieter.

For those unfamiliar with the concept. APIs, or Application Programming Interfaces, are a shared language between systems. In this case, it is a way for people, or more often systems those people write, to communicate with Start.gg underlying structure without having to use the website itself.

Although not everything in Start.gg is accessible today thanks to this new rollout, it does open the door to new developments in the space and in time is likely to be expanded.
