Iron Galaxy Releases Quality-of-Life May Patch

Iron Galaxy released a note on the official blog sharing the details of the latest update for Killer Instinct. The fighting game, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this winter, has received a significant update that improves performance.

The developers have reported difficulties maintaining the game on existing legacy servers. However, the team has already begun migrating all of its content to the PlayFab servers, which power many modern games.

The first migration build for Xbox consoles, Windows PC, and Steam is out now, and here's what to expect from the game on the first launch:

  • Your game version will update to 3.9.30917.1.290283.
  • You can expect a longer than normal load time (normally 40-60 seconds, but potentially minutes depending on your connection speed).
  • You may see a warning 'Refreshing DLC Timeout.' We encourage you to select 'Wait' as this will continue the sync.

After these manipulations, the game should unlock all purchased DLC and continue to work correctly.

The patch also contains the following additional fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where both players would lose points after leaving Ranked mode on Steam.
  • Fixed an issue where characters would appear locked for some PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users playing Definitive Edition on PC. All characters should now be unlocked.
