This update, announced at Evo, will come out later this year
Evo 2023, that’s going on this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, hosted the KI 10-Year Anniversary Invitational tournament to celebrate Killer Instinct being out for a decade already. The event was won by Nicholas "Nicky" Iovene, who defeated Kenneth "Bass" Armas in the Grand Finals.
During the event, the Killer Instinct team made a surprise announcement. According to them, Iron Galaxy, the studio behind the game's Second and Third seasons, is returning to do one final free 10th Anniversary Update later this year. It will include numerous balance changes, improved matchmaking, and 4K support for the current generation of Xbox consoles, Series X and S.
Killer Instinct’s community has shown its resilience time and again, and it’s nice to see them getting rewarded for it. However, we still hope that somewhere down the line, there’s a new Killer Instinct game being made for them. KI lives!
