Arena fighters as a subgenre always struggled to find an audience without relying on incredibly popular IP, but it feels like Kill la Kill -IF got an especially rough deal at the time of its release.
While it's canon to the series, and was developed with Trigger's involvement, it still came out over 5 years after the anime initially aired, and just on the verge of rollback becoming an industry standard for fighting games of any sort.
That said, plenty of players still enjoyed it both as an arena fighter and as an expansion to Kill la Kill universe, and now it should be a much smoother experience for anyone who missed out on it back in the day, or simply didn't have anyone to play with (given the delay netcode limitations).
It recently received a massive Life Fiber mod that adds some massive quality of life improvements. Rollback netcode is one of them, but it also features a lot of smaller, nice to have features. Like adjustable delay, connection quality display, wi-fi indicator, +R style quick match lobbies, private lobbies, spectating, modding support, and many, many more fixes and compatibility improvements.
