Jebailey Reveals the Cost of Streaming Tournaments

Have you ever wondered how much it costs to run a tournament? Many people probably asked themselves this question. You have to rent the venue, provide the setups, have people who would organize the tournament and help run it, and much more. However, how many people actually think about the internet required to stream all this action in high quality, often across multiple setups and channels?

A tweet from MechaMacGyver actually brought some attention to this topic, albeit without any specifics.

That's when Alex Jebailey, the man behind CEO, thrown in some numbers, and boy, it's not looking good.

Naturally, this begs for a callback to the old ways of people recording tournaments and then distributing the footage on tapes and CDs. If that were to happen with some of the future big tournaments, we wouldn't blame them for it, but unfortunately, this also raises an issue of sponsors who provide funding in exchange for ads that show up on the venue and streams.

Quite a complicated situation so say the least, and we're thankful to the tournament organizers who continue to battle these problems for our entertainment.
