As one goes down, another rises up
Japanese esports organization VRIGHTZ has announced that it will cease activities from June 30, 2026. The team made the sudden announcement on social media, apologizing for the abrupt nature of the news.
In their statement, VRIGHTZ said:
“We hereby announce that the gaming team "VRIGHTZ" will disband as of June 30, 2026. We sincerely apologize for this sudden announcement.
Although the remaining activity period is short, we will continue to give our all in our activities, so we would greatly appreciate your continued warm support until the very end.
Additionally, regarding "VRIGHTZ BASE," the base of VRIGHTZ, operations will cease at the end of September 2026, and from October 2026 onward, it will continue operations in a different form.
To all of you who have supported us thus far, we extend our heartfelt gratitude.”
A Relatively Short Shelf Life
VRIGHTZ entered the scene in 2025 and featured notable names such as Kichipa. The organization was formerly known as EVA:e, the team that first brought Street Fighter player Hikaru into the spotlight.
When EVA:e ended its activities in March 2025, Hikaru moved to ZETA DIVISION, and the organization transitioned into VRIGHTZ. Now, that chapter is also coming to a close.
This development follows closely after the disbandment of CAG Osaka, which left an open slot in the Street Fighter League. It also highlights the difficulty of running an esports organization even in a country that seems to be paying more attention to the esports ecosystem like Japan.
Tributes from the Community
Several players, including Hikaru and Kichipa, paid tribute to the organization. Many shared positive reflections, particularly noting the level of support they received at different stages of their careers.
While activities will officially cease in June, VRIGHTZ intend to make the most of their remaining time and aim to go out on a high note.
