Invincible VS shows off its new elements themed character and tells us when we can finally get our hands on the game.
Apologies for the late delivery, but if you missed one of the few fighting game announcements during The Game Awards show that happened last Friday, here's one of the bigger ones.
Quarter Up and Skybound's Invincible VS now has a concrete release date on 30th of April, 2026. The game is now up for pre-order and surprisingly, it's not aiming for full premium release pricing. Instead, the game is going up for $49.99, also known as 50 bucks, 50 euros, or 45 British Pounds. That said, your regional pricing might vary.
Moving on to the character, we have Ella Mental, voiced by rapper and singer Tierra Whack, who seems to have also composed a special theme for the character.
People immediately jumped on the name, and yeah, it's on the nose, but that's basically a trademark for the comic book. I mean, are seriously forgetting that this trailer was "presented" by Rex Splode, the guy who blows things up? Not to mention the other classics like Dupli-Kate, Martian Man, Shrinking Rae, Red Rush, or Green Ghost.
We only get a brief glimpse of the actual gameplay, so it's hard to tell what she's going to be all about, outside of controlling the elements, of course. That said, it could open up room for a rather creative character with a lot of utility if each of the elements gets some sort of unique purpose.
With the comic's creators making the character themselves, there are also bound to be more interesting ties to the lore. For now, all we know is that Robot (another great name) describes her as some "minor Earth hero," who then proceeds to put up a challenge that Mark doesn't expect. So, perhaps there's something more meaty to be revealed through the game's story mode or her interactions with other characters.
