How to Pick The Right Kameo in Mortal Kombat 1 Guide by VideoGamezYo
Learn the basic principles on how you can choose a Kameo on Mortal Kombat 1 that will assist you gameplay style and your characters kit the best

Mortal Kombat 1 introduced a new mechanic into the franchise, Kameos. Although conceptually these are similar to MK11's variations, the fact that they are open to all characters and have their own resource to manage makes them a new layer of complexity for players.

That is why we at DashFight partnered up with pro player VideoGamezYo to bring you a complete guide on the principles of Kameos and how to choose the best fit for you.

Kameos Categories

Kameos can be divided into various categories based on what they are most useful for. Keep in mind that there is some overlap with each category; for example, Motaro's projectile allows him to serve as a neutral Kameo, while his teleporter is squarely in the utility category. As new Kameos are released, you can expect them to fall into any or multiple of these categories.

Kombo Kameos

These kameos are primarily for extending or assisting in combos. They allow you to add more damage or to connect two moves together. They are a good choice if you feel there are certain combos for your main character that would not otherwise be possible without them.

Neutral Kameos

Neutral Kameos, some of which also function as pressure Kameos, give you extra tools that cover for a character weakness. An example of this is Kung Lao with Johnny Cage, as Johnny lacks a projectile, but with Kung Lao, he has one, along with more tools altogether to mix up opponents through his low attack.

Utility Kameos

Also called setup Kameos, these characters are centered around one part of their utility, although not fully defined by that feature, like Sub-zero's armor, Darrius' re-stand, or Motaro's teleport; having that utility often means you can have a lot more options available with your main character or setup particularly situations that lead to a lot of damage.
