One of the series most interesting and entertaining characters is coming back after a long absence.
This past weekend, Arc System Works announced that Robo-Ky will be coming to Guilty Gear Strive, and in unusual display of haste, they already released the character guide that goes over his new kit.
It seems like ArcSys preserved a lot of his identity as a character who is pretty comedic in nature, but also has a lot of depth with his very unorthodox tools and a special meter that requires more nuanced management than you might expect.
As expected, Robo-Ky in Strive streamlines some of the aspects of his character. Electric gauge is still here, and it has 3 separate levels that you can tell by checking the pips. The dynamic here is simple, higher level means you get more powerful versions of your special moves and supers.
For example the rocket punch starts out as a basic projectile, then becomes homing with level 2, and on level 3 you get additional homing projectiles. Naturally, using these powerful moves will deplete the gauge and you'll have to gain it back through his other specials, some of which will gain meter at level 1.
However, you no longer need to actively manage heat to ensure Robo-Ky doesn't explode. Instead of that, heat was converted into a separate install super. After you use it, you will be able to use the strongest version of your moves, but Robo-Ky will eventually self-destruct dealing damage to himself and the enemy.
