A new update just came out for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, and if you expected to see some significant balance adjustments, you will have to wait some more. Fortunately, the game is in a pretty decent state right now, and only getting better, especially with the new patch focusing on quality of life features and new additions that should make the game even more accessible.
Here's everything that's coming with Version 2.40:
Battle Adjustments
• Smart and Super Ultimate control schemes have been added. Smart controls can be used in almost every game mode (except story). Super Ultimate controls are only available in offline game modes (Arcade, Versus, and Survival). If you want more details on these control types, you can find them here. The short version is that Smart controls are somewhat like Modern from SF6, allowing you to do auto-combos and block strings with some degree of manual control. In exchange, Smart users will have less HP, gain less super meter, and deal less damage. Super Ultimate is more like SF6's Dynamic controls, allowing you to play the game by just pressing or holding a single button, with an option to partially control the movement. Naturally, Normal and Smart controls are usable in all modes, while Super Ultimate is restricted to single player modes and local Versus.
• New round-start character animations based on the results of the previous round have been added.
Input Buffer Window
• The input buffer window can be extended by long pressing buttons in advance. This change does not apply to backstepping and recoveries. Input buffer window is unchanged when pressing normally.
Grand Bruise!
• Grand Bruise! points have been reset and new rewards have been added. Rewards from season 1 are slated to return as future Special Challenge rewards.
Store/Rupie Shop
• The following items have been added to the rupie shop:
- Character Colors
- Character color no. 22 for 4 characters, originally obtainable from Battle Pass Round 6
- Weapon Skins
- Weapon skin no. 10 for 5 characters, originally obtainable from Battle Pass Round 6
- Character Illustrations

Online Lobby
• The appropriate partner voices will now play when returning to the online lobby after a match at a standby station when:
- Completing all daily challenges
- Completing all daily battle pass missions
• The layout and controls for the chat window have been updated.
Replays
• Added the option to return to the start of the previous round. Players can also jump to the start of any round from the pause menu.
EX Characters
• Some EX character text has been replaced by icons.
Supported Operating Systems
• (Steam only) Windows 10 (64-bit) has been removed from the list of supported operating systems. While the game most likely won't immediately stop working this version, it will not receive support, and thus we are unable to guarantee that it will function properly in subsequent updates.
