It seems like Christmas came early for free-to-play Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising enjoyers. While the game usually offers only a very limited selection of free characters that rotate each week, this week is an exception. From 6 P.M. PT, November 27 and until 6 P.M. PT, December 4, you will be able to play with any of the 28 characters in the base roster.

One week might not be a great deal of time to actually learn a character and start getting some results in ranked matches or player lobbies, but it's basically as good as it gets if you're more interesting in seeing if this game is for you, and if the online situation is something that you can deal with.

For the past 6 months, the game has been roughly hovering around 600-700 concurrent daily players, which is by no means terrible for a 1v1 fighting game, but this might lead to some less than ideal matchmaking outside of more populated regions.

If you do end up enjoying the game, while it's not currently on sale, you won't need to wait long to grab it at a discount. We are just a little over 20 days away from the Steam Winter Sale, and other platforms are bound to have some sort of discount as well when the Christmas approaches.
