GO1 has allayed fears of an early retirement with a triumphant return in Greece
As the room erupted in cheers, Goichi Kishida (GO1) stepped onto the podium to take his latest trophy: Clash of the Olympians 2026 for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
Goichi was all smiles as he struck a pose with the trophy, dressed in a Greek chiton with a golden sash across his waist and an Olympian wreath on his head.
GO1’s last offline tournament was the Esports World Cup, which ended prematurely after he slumped following a heatstroke. After the event, which he withdrew from, GO1 announced that he’d be stepping back from competitive gaming to focus on his health.
There had been worries that he would be gone for a prolonged period, but he was back in competition as early as last month, where he partook in the SNK Championship Series 2026 Last Chance Qualifier, an online event. But he seems to be back at his sparkling best after announcing that he would be traveling to Greece for the Clash of the Olympians, then France for Evo France, and finally China for the SNK Championship Series 2026 Finals.
GO1 says he will focus only on Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves for now, meaning he is unlikely to dabble in Street Fighter 6 or other titles.
GO1 defeated KingDevu in the Grand Finals to claim his latest win and also give himself a healthy boost on the global leaderboard for the SWC 2026 circuit. He currently sits in 3rd place with 13,600 points, which should stand him in good stead for qualification for the SWC Finals.
