Global Esports Federation Collaborates with UNESCO on Governance

In a significant development for the esports industry, the Global Esports Federation (GEF) proudly announces the appointment of Thanos Karagrounas, GEF’s Executive Director of Strategy and Impact, to the Advisory Committee of the UNESCO Chair on Governance and Social Responsibility in Sport.

Established in June 2023, the UNESCO Chair aims to create a comprehensive framework for research, education, and training, enhancing governance in sports and promoting socially responsible initiatives that place sport at the heart of development.

Karagrounas, a key figure in sustainable development and social impact, will play a crucial role in the Advisory Committee, particularly focusing on esports, one of the six strategic pillars of the UNESCO Chair. This appointment marks a significant milestone, acknowledging the increasing relevance of esports in global governance and social responsibility discussions.
