Arc System Works revealed the final team for the base roster of the upcoming tag fighter, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, at Evo 2026.
The final team will be made up of Ghost Rider, who was already expected to make it into the game, but he will be joined by Blade, Loki, and Deadpool. The team, called the "Samurai Outriders," is a group of misfits who at first glance do not seem like they would work together. The lineup is also made up mostly of anti-hero characters.
For Loki in particular, this was a big deal as it marks his debut as a playable character in a major fighting game. He was part of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but was never playable and was famously cut from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, making Tokon his first real outing.
From the trailer, he already looks like a lot of fun as his introduction seemed to hint at some sort of shapeshifting ability. This could play out similarly to Spinal from Killer Instinct, who could transform into members of the cast and use their moves for a limited time.
Alongside the new characters, it was also announced that an open beta will take place on PlayStation 5 and PC from July 24th to July 26th, 2026. A new stage called Asgard was also previewed.
Nolan North also returns as the voice of Deadpool, which was a treat for fans familiar with his work in previous versions of the Merc with a Mouth.
The game is still slated for release on August 6th and will launch with 20 characters spread across five teams.
