Saudi Arabia's premier esports company, Gamers8 seems intent on producing the largest global esport world cup tournament this year.
The now-former Gamers8 organization is preparing to announce the first edition of its premier event, the Esport World Cup. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, gamers8 has already tried a couple of major events in the region. Most prominent were those for Counter-Strike, among others like Dota, Tekken, and Street Fighter. However, the competition is not without its fair share of controversy and backlash from many communities.

Tekken 73v3$1,000,000.00

Street Fighter 61v1$1,000,000.00
The most recent news is that however big the plans were for 2023, they will be even bigger in 2024, with Saudi Arabia bidding to turn its capital of Riyadh into a major tourist destination. The Esport World Cup is part of that strategy, as the country's leadership pours money into the sports industry that, in a so-called "esports winter," has been sorely needed by other organizers to stay afloat with other sponsorship avenues drying up.
