Four Things We Can't Wait To Do On WWE 2K25
Everything you need to know

WWE is riding the crest of a wave at present. The professional wrestling giant recently had its flagship show Monday Night Raw snapped up by Netflix in a billion-dollar deal. And if that wasn't enough, the streaming behemoth secured the international broadcasting rights to the lucrative Premium Live Events, the first of which was the recent 2025 Royal Rumble.

The Indianapolis showpiece was headlined by the likes of John Cena, Roman Reigns, and CM Punk, all three of whom were competing in a 30-man over-the-top-rope Royal Rumble match with the winner going on to headline the upcoming WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. But despite that headline-grabbing trip competing, the match was won by fan favorite Jey Uso, who was priced as long as +2000 heading into the contest.

But it isn't just streaming where WWE has taken the world by storm. Their upcoming WWE 2K25 video game is set to hit the shelves in March, and if the recent installments in the franchise are anything to go by, it's sure to be a certified banger. With the title set to be released in just a matter of weeks, here are four things we can't wait to do in the upcoming wrestling extravaganza.

Create the Perfect WrestleMania

For years, WWE has wowed audiences with its larger-than-life WrestleMania spectacles, and now, players can take that legacy to the next level with the ability to create custom events. Little is known about the plan for the 41st installment of the Showcase of the Immortals, only that it will be hosted inside Las Vegas' stunning Allegiant Stadium and that the aforementioned Jey Uso will compete for either the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship.

WrestleMania and Las Vegas are a match made in heaven. A night filled with high-stakes drama fits right into the city’s character, and WWE already has a history of blending gambling and entertainment. Long-time fans will remember how the APA (Farooq and Bradshaw) brought poker tables into their backstage skits, delivering a mix of tough-guy swagger and hilarious antics. Later on, JBL—Bradshaw's evolved persona—kept poker alive in WWE's storytelling, often portraying himself as the ultimate "high-roller."

Even in 2022, WWE used poker as a background motif to build segments and rivalries. And let's face it, why wouldn't they? The beloved strategy game has reached incredible heights in recent years, with the move towards online gaming only increasing its popularity and accessibility. Platforms such as Ignition Poker serve as the perfect place for one to play to get the feel for the Vegas Strip, and playing a hand or two would be the perfect preparation for brainstorming a WrestleMania in Sin City.

Firstly, one needs to decide who the Rumble winner will face. Will he go up against the heavyweight champion Gunther, a man he is currently 0-3 against? Or, will he roll the dice so to speak, facing off against long-term ally Cody Rhodes for the WWE title? Plus, what will you do with a slew of other stars on the roster? The decisions are all yours.

CodyLander

WWE games have always been known for pushing the boundaries of creativity, and one of the most exciting possibilities this year is the potential for Cody Rhodes to have his long-anticipated heel turn. Fans have speculated for months about The American Nightmare's future, and if you were to fully lean into this, you could create one of the most talked-about storylines of the year, be it in Universe Mode or My GM.

The most popular theory of Cody as a villain would be emulating the ruthless Homelander from Amazon's The Boys. The pair look alike with their bleach blond hair and blue eyes, and many think that it's only a matter of time before the current WWE Champ goes full "CodyLander." Just picture it—Cody donning a hyper-patriotic cape similar to the one he already wore at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, turning his back on the audience mid-ring, and delivering promos about how the crowd needs him to save them, but no longer deserves him.

WWE 2K25 could allow players to take the reins of Cody’s character and fully explore his dark side. Whether it’s sabotaging his opponents with ruthless attacks or screwing over allies in search of championship glory, players can write their own CodyLander saga.

Dominate MyGM Mode Online

One of the biggest announcements for WWE 2K25 is the ability to take MyGM Mode online. The feature returned to the game after a mightily long absence two years ago, and it immediately proved to be a hit with long-time fans who had waited the better part of two decades to get their chance to shine. This year though, the game isn't only available locally, but is also able to be played online against millions of players around the world for the first time ever.

Restore the Bloodline to Former Glories

The meteoric rise—and eventual fall—of The Bloodline faction has been one of WWE’s most compelling storylines in recent years. WWE 2K25 lets fans relive the group's dominance through The Bloodline’s Dynasty Showcase Mode, putting players in control of Roman Reigns, The Usos, Solo Sikoa, and many more.

The aforementioned Reigns is the cover star of the game, an honor in itself. As such then, it was to be expected that the game may well be centered around the Tribal Chief, and rightfully so. The Head of the Table clung to the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship for 1,316 days between August 2020 and April 2024, eventually dropping the title to Rhodes at WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia.

Now, players can play through Reigns' entire title reign and relieve the greatest title run of all time. As well as that, there is also an arcade-style mode in which players look to join the Tribal Chief on the Island of Relevancy. Are you worthy of a seat alongside Reigns at the Head of the Table?
