Fighting Games Have an Age Problem
It's never too late for fighting games to explore new character concepts.

Fighting games have some of the most diverse sets of characters you can find among video games. We got skeletons, golems, robots, aliens, magical girls, eldritch horrors, and everything in-between.

Even among purely human characters, there are men of all shapes and sizes, from young brawlers to ancient Kung-Fu masters, but what about women?

For some reason, fighting games struggle to age up their existing cast members, or to come up with new ones. On the surface, you might think that this is just another plea for inclusion, but it’s not just that.

By locking out a whole set of characters, fighting games limit their own creativity, so let’s briefly talk about this, and why older female characters could be an interesting addition to the fold.
