If you missed it before, you finally have a chance to experience the FEXL 3.0 that wasn't fated to be.
Not long ago, ARIKA celebrated the company's 30th Anniversary. Most notably, they did so by lowering the price of Fighting EX Layer to just one dollar on Steam.
However, it also came with another promise, to release the "April Fools" version of the game as an optional beta branch. Also known as the 3.0 version of FEXL, it was a drastic departure from the base game, ditching the defining gougi system, and turning it into an almost 3D fighting game.
Now you can finally play it by entering the following beta code – 8kV4N9OrtoMR.
Keep in mind that this is a pretty rough build of the game. Even Arika devs knew that it doesn't really make sense to try and polish up what was meant to be a rough experimental build, even including this line:
>Right before publishing the code, we discovered a bug where, during CPU matches, the CPU “walks” in the air when air-guarding. We decided to pretend we didn’t see it and proceed with the code release.
That said, this is still worth checking out for any fan of the game.
