Let's hope for a great 2024!
Last year was one of the best for the entire FGC: we got many new fighting game releases, tournaments well and truly came back, big and small, and prize pools for some tours and events reached decent numbers, even if they’re still not sustainable for the majority of the games.
This year has some cool stuff in store for us, like the upcoming Tekken 8 release, or the finals of the biggest circuits, like the Tekken World Tour finals that’s happening at this very moment.
With this all in mind, we asked many prominent community members about their wishes and resolutions for the year. Some answers were longer than others, or more thorough, but we’re thankful for any nonetheless.
Damascus simply wants to do better as a player, as he had much less time to play lately.
Well, mine is pretty simple: Play more. I've been traveling and working on the games so much this year I barely even played, so I want to play enough to enter tournaments and do well!! Sajam wants to continue spreading positivity whenever and wherever he can!
This year I'm doing my best to continue being a positive perspective on the genre and to highlight all the great parts about the FGC. It's really easy to get lost being frustrated or upset about something we love, but I'd like to make sure there's a nice place to vibe and enjoy fighting games for people who want it. Shaun Rivera, who is the Game Director on Project L, vowed to try out and become good at all new fighting games.
Dig deep into all of the new fighting games in 2024 and try to achieve the highest rank with a character in each.
Talk more to folks about design and game development in general. DjOn6, a prominent tournament organized from the Dominican Republic, was quite succinct.
I wish for a better online experience for Mortal Kombat 1 🤣 Anya, a tournament host, competitor, and community figure, has quite an extensive list!
Gaming/Esports Related Goals:
Travel to at least 2 countries I've never been to, to compete in Tekken 8.
And travel to cities I've never been to in general.
By the end of 2024 I’d like to be able to perform in Tekken 8 as good as I did at the end of Tekken 7.
Get at least one medal or trophy competing in Tekken 8.
Get a 3rd Channel partenered with Youtube.
Double my revenue and social media following.
Reina and Asuka Tekken 8 cosplay.
Get my 2nd Tekken tattoo.
Host at least 50 tournaments this year online/offline.
Other Goals:
Learn a third language to a decent level (Italian).
Finish a minimum of 12 books.
Complete first year of college with excellent grades.
Improve my skin care and self care in general. Rooflemonger is highly focused on manifesting things into reality!
I guess the main goal is to manifest Virtua Fighter 6 into reality by sheer will!Rooflemonger@Rooflemonger
Jammerz, an amazing SF commentator, has many resolutions.
Hey Guys, Happy New Year firstly.
As for New Year resolutions, these are what comes to mind:
1) To continue to maintain a strong balance of being educational and entertaining when commentating.
2) When I present a new fact about something nuanced in a fighting game (make it sound interesting).
3) To try and get a commentary gig in the Asian region for Street Fighter (as I have never been to an Asian country for work).
4) To be a part of the Redbull Kumite Street Fighter Talent lineup.
5) To learn another fighting game (as it has been awhile since I have done that) When I'm at an event for Street Fighter, I always want the audience to walk away learning something new or see things from a different perspective. Rick “TheHadou” Thiher was quite laconic, yet very relatable.
To be better than I was last year.Rick “TheHadou” Thiher@TheHadou
Spag is entirely focused on doing his best as well!
After helping to promote European and Pakistani Tekken during T7, my focus is now on the Middle East and Africa scenes as my goals to highlight and promote for 2024! Stacy decided to take a look at Tekken!
I want to try Tekken for the first time. I’ve never played any Tekken game, and I’m super interested in T8. Yoshimitsu looks incredibly sick and after watching competitive T7 for the last few years, I am excited to get an understanding of the game for myself. Kitana Prime has decided to go to basics and just have fun playing games.
To take it back to the basics. I'm just gonna play games for fun and get involved with nothing else.Kitana Prime@Kitana_Prime
But FGC isn’t only pro players, TOs, and streamers. It’s all of you! So we’re also sharing your responses as well.
Our own biggest resolution for 2024 is to do our best to be our best! Have a great 2024!
