The patch that comes alongside Krauser's release is aiming to improve the game in several important ways.
A year after its initial release, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is coming out a major update that aims to shake things up beyond changing up the balance and adding a new character.
Once Wolfgang Krauser is added to the game, there will be some other major changes waiting for you. One of the most notable among them is the inclusion of a whole new story mode focused around the return of Fatal Fury's iconic villain.
Aside from that there will be a few smaller but much welcome changes and additions:
- Kain will be getting a whole new alternative outfit.
- Ring Out mechanic makes a return in the new stage, much like the classic two-lane mechanic was preserved through one of the stages in the base game.
- UI is getting overhauled entirely. It still retains the comic book aesthetic, but much has been done to make the game easier to navigate. For example, on the lobby screen you will now actually have proper controls instead of having to control an awkward cursor. Overall menus are now somewhat reminiscent of Street Fighter 6's approach, with several major categories that you can pick before selecting more specific options.
- Smart Style users will now have access to heavy version of specials, greatly expanding the control style's versatility. While it was seemingly intended to be as viable as Modern Controls are in SF6, Smart Style really felt short on release, but this update could help to make it feel more viable.
One really important change that goes outside of the game is the change in pricing. The base version of City of the Wolves will now sell for 20 bucks, though it will not include Season 1 like it used it, for obvious reasons.
Seasons can now instead be purchased separately, with Season 1 being 15 USD and Season 2 going for 20 USD.
And, of course, this all comes along hefty balance changes that you can check out on the official website.
