Fan VFX Project Makes 2XKO Fans Miss Yone Even More
What could've been.

A fan project from 3 years ago recently re-emerged on X through the highlight from VFXApprentice account, and it further rubs salt into the wound of 2XKO not getting to realize even a portion of its full potential.

The VFX in question is great looking fan art from Axel Mortensen, a VFX artist who previously contributed to games like Borderlands, Fortnite, Mortal Kombat, and Unreal Tournament (the new one, that never saw release).

In spite of how basic it is, there's a great sense of weight, speed, and pacing of the hits that makes it so easy to fill in the blanks in your mind.

What makes this hurt even more is that Aleyna Norton, one of the 3D artists that worked on 2XKO, also made a fanart model for Yone that looks absolutely brilliant. It even includes some potential colors he could've had.

Considering the character himself is quite popular and has some interesting abilities that lend themselves well to a tag fighter, it really stings that modders are the only hope at this point.

Regardless how you feel about the game, they found their footing, they build a pipeline to support it with a lot of content, they added one of the cooler single player modes in fighting games, and just as it was building up steam, Riot thought it's the good time to cut their losses.

After all, all that money could be more efficiently spent on an MMO that has been in development since at least 2020, got reset in 2024, and probably won't see the light of day until at least the end of this decade.
