EWC Rulebook Reveals Prize Pool & Format for Fatal Fury: CoTW
The prize pool split looks great

The Esports World Cup (EWC) has released its official tournament rulebook, and one of the standout revelations is the prize pool distribution for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

According to the updated rulebook, the tournament winner will take home $300,000, while the runner-up will earn a substantial $155,000. Notably, all players in the top 16 will receive a payout, with those placing 13th to 16th earning $20,000 each, an amount that exceeds the total prize pools of many other events. This generous payout structure is expected to make City of the Wolves a major highlight of the EWC.

Another important detail is the confirmation that all matches will be played in a best-of-five format. This change comes in response to community feedback, as many players had expressed concerns about the fast-paced nature of City of the Wolves matches. A first-to-three format offers more room for adaptation and is considered more suitable for high-level competitive play.

SNK’s decision to implement these changes has been met with widespread praise, with some in the community suggesting that Capcom could take a cue from SNK’s responsiveness to player concerns.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be the first fighting game featured at this year’s Esports World Cup. The tournament will take place from July 10th to July 12th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
