Evo Moment 37 Reference Made Its Way Into Yet Another Game

Evo Moment 37 continues to be potentially the most referenced thing to come out of fighting games, only comparable to Mortal Kombat quotes and Marvel memes.

Sometimes these references come from places where you least expect, like a gacha game, specifically, an idle animation within a gacha game?

It seems like Punishing: Grey Raven developers chose a very specific way to convey that their new character is a bit of a gamer.

There is a remarkable amount of attention here, which really sells it as a love letter rather than a surface level reference. Obviously the parry is all there, down to the aerial hit and the follow-up combo from "Daigo" bear, but look at the other parts.

The "Justin" bear also whiffs to build more meter, and then you get the super flash that is similar to Third Strike's. Even the health bars and timer are a close match to the original. You can't pull something like this off without actually having some love for the moment.

Now, it's still a gacha game, but the reference did come out remarkably well.
