Evo Japan 2025 - Guilty Gear -Strive- Top 8

With nearly 700 competing players, three rounds of pools, and a top 24 bracket, the top 8 of Guilty Gear Strive was destined to be one of the strongest this year. In addition to the local talent, several foreign players also secured spots at the event for a chance at the prizes and a ticket to the AWT 2025-26 finals.

The Top 8 Players

Three non-asian players were able to carve their way into the top 8 bracket at the event: Leffen, Tiger_Pop, and RedDitto, who did it on the upper side of the bracket as well. Joining him up there were Summit, Poka, and Daru I-no. On the lower side, the pair of remaining players was Tyurara and Sanakan.

Top 8 Results

The upper side of bracket started out with a pair of sweeps, as Summit and Daru advanced to the winner finals after 3-0 series. Down in lowers, Lefeen would put up a very close match versus Tyurara with his Happy Chaos, but the ZETA DIVISION player would complete the reverse sweep. On the other opening match of lowers, the Happy chaos mirror of Tiger Pop and Sanakan would result in the VSFighting XII champion Tiger pop advancing.

The two foreign players defeated their opponents in the next round, knocking out Poka in a clean sweep with Tyurara falling to RedDitto as he reverse-swept him with Ramlethal. He would go on to win 3-1 versus Tiger_Pop and secure a grand finals appearance by closing out a tight series against Summit, who had been knocked down to the lower finals in a sweep by Daru. Ultimamtely, Daru would once again prove dominant and finish his top 8 with a perfect 9-0.
