EMEA Strive Cup Quarter Finals: Will Someone Please Stop The French!
In what was an exciting quarter-finals stage, one nation has now come out as the overwhelming favorites

The last two quarter-final matches for the ongoing EMEA Strive Cup took place yesterday and we now have the semi-finalists. The last four teams are as follows:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • France
  • United Kingdom
  • Spain

These four countries are all perfectly capable of winning the tournament, but at the moment, it is difficult to look beyond France

For the Semi-Finals, we'll have:

  • France vs Saudi Arabia
  • Spain vs United Kingdom

But how did the Quarter-Finals go? Well, here's a brief overview of the games.

Quarter-Finals Day 1

There were two matches on day one. First, we had Spain go up against Germany in what was easily the most exciting match of the bunch. Spain and Germany are about evenly matched with Uriel_Legion carrying the hopes of the Spanish while in True Devin, Germany have an astonishing player. The two of them were instrumental in their teams' efforts to win the game. But, for the second game in a row, Spain had PatataSalvaje to thank for their victory. The match had been neck and neck so far with Germany winning the first set before Spain took the second. This forced a third set and Germany took the first match while Spain took the second. This meant that there was a final match to decide things and it was all down to PatataSalvaje who was met with the challenge of defeating Nexxy, a supremely talented Sol player. Patata did his country proud and they are now through the Semi-Finals.

The second match of the day between France and Italy was much more of a wash. It was an impressive spectacle, not because of the two sides fighting with all their might, but of the insane levels of talent available to the French. Skyll, Pinhead, WhiteBl4ck, Arefu, and Achorawl were imperious and Italy were hardly able to get anything going. France won without suffering a single defeat.

Quarter-Finals Day 2

The second day of Quarter-Final action saw United Kingdom face off against Israel/Turkey and Saudi Arabia play against North Africa. Saudi Arabia took the first game, but not without some difficulty. The North African region had already shown that they are not to be trifled with and they did their best against Saudi. Eventually, they lost thanks in no small part to the excellence of Latif. The UK also prevailed against Israel/Turkey and despite Zando's best efforts on behalf of Israel/Turkey, they were unable to overcome the power of the British.

Again, the UK did not win without difficulty, dropping a set before reestablishing dominance.

With the Semi-Finals set to take place tomorrow, it is hard to see anyone winning besides France. They have been dominant and have there hasn't been a single chink in their armor. It will be interesting to see how they do against Saudi Arabia

The UK also have a daunting task against Spain because while the Iberians have been far from convincing, their ability to come up clutch when the situation demands it is something the Brits should fear.
