DBFZK aims to mix the best of the old and new version of DBFZ, while also giving it a bit of a facelift.
Lots of cool modding projects popping out lately, but not too many with the ambition of making a whole new revision of the game, with both graphical and gameplay adjustments.
That is pretty much the goal of Dragon Ball FighterZ Kai, fittingly named after Dragon Ball Z Kai, which was a new version of DBZ that saught to cut down on the filler, improve the pacing, and clean up some of the visuals.
To be more specific, the mod's GameBanana page describes it with this:
DBFZ: KAI is a full redux of modern DBFZ with a return to form of the design philosophy of older versions, while still retaining many of the new ideas brought in later iterations of the game. Alongside that, DBFZ:K welcomes many unique battle system changes for old and new players to experience alike! EVERY single aspect has been reviewed and adjusted, with many more updates to come!
Major changes include:
- Overall damage output reduced
- Variety in which meter can be spent greatly expanded
- Additional assist for all characters in the cast
- QoL fixes and changes
- And more!
